A new spay neuter program is being announced for Chihuahuas and Pit Bulls. The goal of this new program is to reduce the breeding population and reduce the overall shelter intake of Chihuahua and Pit Bull breed dogs. This program is in partnership with the local veterinarian community of Stanislaus County. Chihuahua and Pit Bull dog owners residing in the cities of Modesto, Ceres, Patterson, Waterford, Hughson and the unincorporated areas of Stanislaus County are eligible for this program.
Dog owners should come to the shelter between 9 and 10 a.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday with their dog to obtain a rabies vaccination and a certificate to have their dog spayed or neutered with a local veterinarian at no cost to the dog owner. The dog will receive a dog license after confirmation the dog has been altered. This is all available at no cost to the dog owner! Please contact the Stanislaus Animal Services Agency to take advantage of this amazing program!
