Volunteers in Police Services

The Volunteers in Police Services (VIPS) are committed to providing competent support to the citizens of Ceres and the police officers of Ceres Police Department. Their mission is to build partnerships with the community, improving the citizens’ quality of life.

Services

VIPS agree to donate a minimum of 16 hours per month in service to the Police Department and citizens of Ceres. While on duty, they may do any of the following:

  • Handicapped Parking Enforcement
  • Neighborhood Watch
  • Ride-Alongs
  • Shopping Center Patrol
  • Support for special City functions
  • Support the Records Division
  • Support the Investigations Division
  • Support the Patrol Division
  • Support the Property/Evidence CSO
  • Support the Communications Center
  • Act as the eyes and ears of the Department

Personnel

Volunteers are overseen by Special Operations Lieutenant Patrick Crane and Administrative Sergeant Greg Yotsuya. The volunteer coordinator is Community Service Officer/Senior VIPS David McCann
