PRESS RELEASE
On January 29, 2001, City Manager, Tom Westbrook began his career in Ceres as an Associate Planner in the City’s Planning Division. Today, the City announces that Mr. Westbrook has submitted his resignation to the City Council and his last day with the City of Ceres will be August 23rd. Mr. Westbrook has accepted a position as the Community Development Director in the town he was born and raised in, in northern California. He, his wife Jaci and their two kids will be relocating to the City of Red Bluff where Mr. Westbrook will begin his new job in September.
Mr. Westbrook says: “It has been my honor and pleasure to work for the Ceres community for more than two decades. During that time, I’ve held many positions within the City and most recently I’ve served as your City Manager during one of the most challenging times in this nation’s history.”
“Over the course of 20 years, I’ve had the pleasure to work with some outstanding Councilmembers, Planning Commissioners, staff, property owners, business owners, residents, developers, engineers, architects, among others and I’m proud to have been a part of many projects. A few of the most memorable projects include the General Plan Update, Municipal Code Update, the West Landing Specific Plan, Mitchell Ranch Center, and Ceres Gateway Center which will begin construction in the coming months. I wish the Ceres community, Council and Staff the very best as the City moves forward in 2021 and beyond.”
The Council’s statements about Mr. Westbrook’s departure are as follows:
“Tom Westbrook has served the Ceres community for two decades. Government and public relationships have been key to his success as city manager. My time spent with Mr. Westbrook will forever make an impact in my career. He is now moving onto the next chapter of his life and career and should continue to look forward, for greater things are upon him. I am privileged to have had him work for our city. I can say without hesitation he is a good man with vision and heart. Thank you, Mr. Westbrook.” Mayor Lopez
“I have known Mr. Westbrook for the entire duration of his time with Ceres and have always appreciated his commitment and work ethic to our city. He will be missed, but I understand why he wants to return to his hometown and his extended family in Red Bluff, California.” Council Member Linda Ryno
