Motorcycle-Traffic PictureThe Ceres Police Traffic Unit is responsible for traffic safety in the City of Ceres. The overall goal of the Unit is to reduce injury and fatal collisions in the City. The Unit is overseen by Lieutenant Danny Vierra and supervised by Traffic Sergeant Jason Coley


The Traffic Officers are responsible for:

  • All major injury/fatal traffic collisions
  • Available for any and all traffic complaints throughout the city
  • Deployment of radar speed trailers throughout the city
  • DUI checkpoints and DUI Saturation patrols
  • Partner in the Stanislaus County CITE Team, which is deployed once a month to a chosen city in Stanislaus County and provides traffic safety for that city
  • Promotes driver and pedestrian safety by interacting with the public and the local schools
  • Provides traffic control for the Street Faire, Christmas Tree Lane, Halloween Festival, and other special events

Commercial Traffic Unit

Working hand-in-hand with our Traffic Unit is our Commercial Traffic Unit.  The Commercial Traffic Officer is responsible for all citations to commercial trucks within the city limits, including:

  • Bald tires
  • Broken windshields
  • Defective lighting
  • Driving out of lane
  • Failure to obey a sign
  • Impeding traffic
  • Logbook violations
  • Mechanical violations
  • Missing license plates
  • Missing mud flaps
  • Red light violations
  • Spilling a load
  • Unsafe lane change
