About Vice Mayor Silveira
Councilman Bret Silveira is serving his first term on the Ceres City Council, representing District 3 beginning December 2020. Councilman Silveira served on the Ceres Planning Commission since being appointed in by the City Council in January 2020.
Councilman Silveira retired in July 2022 after a 31 1/2 year career with the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department. The last 16 years spent as the Deputy Director of the Stanislaus County Police Activities League.
Other civic involvement for Councilman Silveira includes Childhood Injury Prevention Coalition SAFE Kids Stanislaus, Northern California Officials Association, Stanislaus Senior Softball Association, and National Collegiate Athletics Association. Councilman Silveira has spent the last 36 years officiating high school and college athletics. Councilman Silveira also coached high school football and baseball at Ceres High School for almost 20 years.
Councilman Silveira attended Ceres schools including Westport Elementary School, Walter White Elementary School, Mae Hensley Junior High School, and graduated from Ceres High School in 1982.
"I have worked in law enforcement for 29 years and making sure that our Ceres Community is safe is my #1 priority! I am also very passionate about our children and want to make sure that there are safe places for our children to play and healthy programs for the citizens of Ceres to participate in. Short and long term growth are a priority for me and I will do everything that I can to make sure that we have reasonable and responsible growth as we move into to the future and to bring valuable resources to the Ceres community."
Councilman Silveira has two adult children that both reside in Ceres.
