Detectives
The Ceres Police Department has multiple Detectives that focus on specific groups of crimes. We divide these crimes into three main areas; property crimes, crimes against persons, and crimes against children.
Detectives may respond directly to crime scenes when a crime has occurred, but often take on a case after it has been assigned to a patrol officer. A patrol officer will respond to the incident or crime and obtain the initial information. If that initial information is not enough the case may be forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
Detectives do not take initial reports from the public. If you need to report a crime that has occurred in Ceres, call dispatch at 209-538-5712.
